Intermediate Math Maps

Parents - Thank you for attending the 5th and 6th grade math meeting last week.  We are happy to share this change in our math curriculum with you and we are confident that these changes will benefit students.  Attached are the slides from the meeting, including the updated curriculum maps.  When reading the maps, it is important to fully understand their purpose.  Curriculum maps are intended to serve as a guide for instruction; they allow teachers to deliver an individual lesson in the context of the whole school year.  Curriculum maps are aligned to teaching standards and represent the SCIENCE of teaching.  For the maps to be successful, we must give teachers the flexibility to attend to the specific learners in front of them while delivering instruction.  This is why the maps are fluid and should not be viewed as a course syllabus.  The implementation of the maps represents the ART of teaching.  Thank you for supporting these changes to our math program.
